Breitling Navitimer 806 – AOPA de 1959

L’histoire de la Breitling Navitimer débute en 1952 à la demande de l’«Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association» (AOPA) le puissant syndicat des Pilotes Américains qui en fait sa montre officielle. Elle devient le chronographe le plus emblématique de la marque, en raison de sa règle à calcul intégrée, qui permettait aux pilotes d’effectuer des calculs inédits, notamment en ce qui concerne la vitesse moyenne, la distance parcourue, la consommation de carburant et la vitesse ascensionnelle. La star des collections reste la fameuse référence 806, équipée d’un mouvement Venus 178 comme le modèle présenté ici qui est une véritable icône pour tout collectionneur de chrono d’aviation et dont le design est reconnaissable entre tous.

Elle fut au cours du temps portée par de nombreuses célébrités comme Miles Davis, Serge Gainsbourg, ainsi que les champions de Formule 1, Jim Clark et Graham Hill.

La montre présentée ici est assez rare, il s’agit d’un modèle de 1959. Ce modèle était le dernier à disposer de tous ses cadrans noirs et sa lunette en perle de riz, ce qui lui donne une grande élégance. Lunette qui sera à partir de fin 1963 modifiée en lunette crantée qui lui conférent selon nous une touche plus moderne puisque c’est ce modèle de lunette crantée qui équipe encore les modèles actuels.

Ce cadran contrairement à beaucoup n’a fait l’objet d’aucune restauration ce qui explique un petit défaut du au temps vers 2 h mais ce qui lui confère aussi son charme.

Donc si vous recherchez un NAVITIMER cadran panda avec sa fameuse lunette perlée résolument Vintage, c’est ce très beau NAVITIMER qu’il vous faut. A noter l’excellent état de cette montre et de son cadran ainsi que de sa règle à calcul blanche intérieur tournante.

The watch presented here is quite rare, it is a 1959 model. This model was the last to have all its dials black and its bezel in rice pearl, which gives it a great elegance. Bezel which will be from the end of 1963 modified in notched bezel which confer to him according to us a more modern touch since it is this model of notched bezel which still equips the current models.

This dial, unlike many others, has not been restored, which explains a small defect due to the weather around 2 o’clock, but which also gives it its charm.
